TAYLOR Curran has left Swindon Town and joined National League South side Maidstone United.

Curran was one of 11 Town players to start this season under contract and had the longest deal of anyone left at the club.

However, the 21-year-old's contract appears to have been cancelled by mutual consent in order to allow the defender to sign for Maidstone.

Curran arrived in January 2019 and went on to play 19 times for Town, scoring one goal.

Explaining how the move came about to Maidstone's website, Curran said: "I just basically left Swindon, and I played for the manager (Hakan Heyrettin) when I played for Braintree on loan when I was 18.

"He said "do you want to come in?" and I said yes. I had a look around the place and he offered me a deal.

"I think we can do something good this season with the players that we've got, it looks like a good squad, a good bunch of boys, good facilities - it was a bit of a no-brainer."

Curran also discussed his career up to date, where he mentioned Swindon once again.

He said: "I got bought by Swindon nearly three years ago, played there and loved my time there, but it felt like the right time to leave and do something else."
