FRASER Rogers believes his IN Competition team is having a “mega season” after finishing fourth in round seven of the British Superbikes National Superstock Championship at Cadwell Park last weekend.

As the Championship crossed over its halfway point, Rogers continued his title-contending form before a disappointing end to the weekend saw him come home in fourth.

Nevertheless, 13 more points means Rogers remains in touch with leader Tom Neave and trails him by just 18 with five rounds to go.

Rogers’ weekend began with two excellent free-practice sessions on the 2.18 mile Lincolnshire circuit that resulted in the Swindon racer banking second with a time that was just 0.3 seconds behind pole-sitter, Neave.

Another superb 30-minute qualifying session from Rogers resulted in him qualifying second after using all of the knowledge and experience of his time at the track.

Sunday’s main race saw heavy fog grease the track before the sun eventually emerged in the nick of time to help dry the racing line.

As the lights went out, it was Chrissy Rouse that came through from the third row of the grid to take an early lead with Rogers not far behind.

On the third lap, the red flag came out due to an extremely heavy rain shower that made racing on the two-wheel machines too dangerous.

When the race resumed, Rogers and Rouse were among a small group battling for the front, but the IN Competition man was beaten up in the scrap for first and fell back to fourth.

By lap four, championship rivals Alex Olsen and Neave were pulling away while Rogers battled Rouse for fourth. The Swindon man eventually bested Rouse but was unable to close the gap on the front three in time.

Speaking to team media after the race, Rogers reacted positively to the relative disappointment.

He said: “P4 in the sprint race, it was a proper superstock scrap. It was unfortunate to have the first part stopped but it was a great call by race direction to get the race stopped before we all went into a wet hall bends.

“I got a bit beaten up in the restart and was only just coming good on the last lap.

“There are definitely positives though, it was my fastest ever Cadwell lap, the third fastest lap of the race, and it’s 13 valuable points.

“P4 on a bad day means we’re having a mega season. Thank you to all of my sponsors and the entire IN Competition Team.”
