SWINDON Town head coach Ben Garner has provided an update on three players ahead of this weekend's local derby with Bristol Rovers.

Jack Payne, Mathieu Baudry, and Jojo Wollacott were all discussed by the Town boss - with two of the three potentially returning to the match-day squad.

Payne is thought to be the most unlikely to return having only just resumed training in the week, while Baudry has a chance after taking part in group training shortly before his midfield peer.

Wollacott only arrived back in England late on Thursday, but he could be slotted straight into the squad as a substitute.

Discussing his absentees on Friday morning, Garner said: "Jack Payne won't be available for tomorrow but he's progressed really well.

"He's been back in on the grass - which has been great to see - so we're hoping to phase him back into team training next week.

"Mathieu Baudry has had a really good week - he's come back into some team training, so it's been a big push on for him this week. Everyone else is good, so the squad is the same as last Saturday basically.

"Jojo was due in for training today. We'll just take it from there and see how he is and how he feels. From there, we'll decide whether he comes back into the squad tomorrow or not."

Garner went on to give huge credit to this sport science team once again after it emerged that Town have only had one soft-tissue injury throughout the entire season so far - a complete contrast to last season's situation.

Garner said: "You've got to try and control the soft-tissue injuries. Impact injuries and injuries from tackles like Jack Payne's are out of your hands.

"Our focus since day one has been a consistent approach to how we prepare and how we play.

"The attention to detail from the sport science group is very, very high. That's why we brought those people to the club, and they've made a big difference in our season."
