THE Bespoke Guardians Swindon Wildcats head coach Aaron Nell admitted Telford Tigers wanted to win more than his group in last weekend's double defeat and has told his team to take that anger out on the Raiders this Saturday.

Swindon's National Ice Hockey League title hopes took a dent last time out after 4-2 and 8-5 defeats to rivals Telford Tigers, home and away.

Reflecting on a disappointing couple of days in which his team failed to produce their A-game, Nell said: "It's not ideal. We would have much preferred to have won at least one of the games last weekend, but there's a long way to go still and it's a good learning experience for us.

"Telford deserved to win, certainly on Sunday, but Saturday was a lot closer game. You've got to give credit to Telford because of how well they played over the weekend.

"I think they wanted it more than us as a group, and that's difficult to take. We've got to make sure we're better for the rest of the season."

In their bid to get back on track, the Wildcats have just one game to contend with this weekend - a home game against bottom side, The Raiders.

Nell wants his players to play with a little emotion as they attempt to put right what went wrong against the Tigers.

He said: "It's going to be a tough game because they had two really good results two weeks ago and then two poor results last week.

"So they're in a similar position to us - they're going to be really ready to go and trying to make up for last weekend.

"We need to be ready, we need to play with a bit of anger or a bit annoyed that we lost twice last weekend.

"We want to do everything we can to take it out on whoever we're playing - in this case it's the Raiders - and make sure we win. We need to make sure we play hard and put a big performance in for our fans too."
