SWINDON Town manager Ben Garner has confirmed that Tyreece Simpson will not be returning to the club on loan.

The striker, who scored 11 goals in 30 appearances in all competitions this season, was recalled by his parent club Ipswich Town in a bitter blow for the Robins’ play-off push.

Last week, Tractor Boys manager Kieran McKenna confirmed the centre-forward was only recalled early because of a contract issue.

Simpson’s contract with the East Anglian club expires at the end of the season, although they have an option to extend the deal by 12 months.

Speaking ahead of his side's match against Crawley Town, Swindon head coach Ben Garner said:

“Tyreece won’t be coming back. He would have had to agree a new deal at Ipswich, very quickly for him to come back on loan to us.

“I wish Tyreece on the best, whether he stays at Ipswich or whether he moves up.”

It was rumoured over the weekend that Simpson may well be playing his trade in the Championship with the likes of Cardiff City, Hull City, and Barnsley expressing an interest in his services.

The Robins were also dealt with another blow at the weekend, after it emerged that full-back, Kaine Kesler-Hayden will not be returning to the club on loan.

Hopes had remained high that Town would be able to bring the talented teenager back to The County Ground, after he was recalled by new Villa manager Steven Gerrard earlier in the window.

However, the defender is set to join to MK Dons on a temporary deal with an announcement due shortly.
