SWINDON Town head coach Ben Garner is looking forward to welcoming his main man, Harry McKirdy, back into the team ahead of Tuesday night’s League Two clash with Sutton United.

Town’s top scorer has served his two-match ban for racking up 10 yellow cards while his teammates fell 3-1 at Exeter City before responding with a late winner to down Oldham Athletic on Saturday.

Having also had time to recover from a slight ankle injury without the need for an injection, McKirdy is said to be fully fit for the final 10 games – starting with Sutton on Tuesday.

The presence of a man who has scored 17 goals for Swindon this year is bound to give Town a lift, according to the club’s head coach.

Garner said: “He enjoys that role as the main man in our team, without any shadow of a doubt.

“Any player that’s got the talent and ability of Harry, they want that pressure and that challenge, they want to be seen as a key player in the team which he undoubtedly is.

“It’s important to have that mentality, and not arrogance but certainly lots of self-confidence and self-belief.

“He’ll give us a great lift being back tomorrow because he’s done exceptionally well this season.

“The fact that we’ve been able to give him that rest and have his ankle settle down without an injection will be a big help as well.”
