SWINDON Supermarine conceded in the 90th minute as Beaconsfield Town escaped with a point courtesy of a 2-2 draw in Southern League Premier South at the weekend.

With Lee Spalding’s men in control at half-time thanks to goals from Harry Williams and Henry Spalding, it appeared as though Marine would chain consecutive victories together.

However, Nathan Minhas struck in both the 60th and 90th minute to snatch a draw for the Rams on their travels.

It was the hosts who started much the brighter of the two teams, and they duly took the lead after half an hour when Williams nipped through to reach Ryan Campbell’s neat pass before drilling into the bottom left corner.

Beaconsfield attempted to respond through Kaine Kennedy-Sinclair’s powerful effort, but Martin Horsell parried it away.

Shortly before the break, Marine double their advantage after a mistake from Beaconsfield goalkeeper, Ryan Gray.

George Dowling clipped a long ball over the top which the stopper reached first. But attempting to control and clear, Spalding blocked Gray’s kick before rolling his shot into the unguarded net.

Marine were comfortable in the second half too until a free-kick out wide was swung into the middle and not dealt with by the hosts. Beaconsfield’s top scorer Minhas was quickest to react to the loose ball, and he blasted home to halve the deficit.

Momentum was now firmly in the Rams’ favour, a glaring miss from Josh Fawole prevented Beaconsfield from equalising far earlier than they eventually did.

The final action of the game was a moment of quality from Minhas. Having received a Scott Donnelly pass into him on the edge of the box, the striker turned marker Pierce Mitchell before poking his effort past Horsell and into the bottom corner to rescue a draw.

In Southern League Division One South, Highworth Town secured a 1-0 victory over Wiltshire rivals Melksham Town thanks to Ollie Case’s second-half header at the Save on Tyres Stadium.

The Worthians gained revenge for the 2-0 reverse in November after Case’s intervention and Connor Johns’ excellent double-save shortly after.

Highworth’s victory lifted Ross Adams’ men up to 11th while Melksham remained in ninth place.
