SWINDON’S Max Cook now leads the Pirelli Junior Superstock championship standings following his third race win in a row.

The Binch Racing star was on top form at Donington Park and comfortably secured top spot on the podium with a powerful performance on board his 600cc machine.

Cook began round four steadily and gradually built his pace over the course of the weekend.

Saturday saw the Swindon racer secure another superb pole position in the qualifying session while also vanquishing the previous lap record by 0.3 seconds.

When Sunday’s race got underway, the Binch Racing rider maintained his lead into Redgate Corner at turn one before building a two-second gap to second after just two laps.

However, the race was then stopped due to a red-flag situation and Cook would have to do it all again from the restart.

Unable to repeat his heroics from the first attempt, Cook was swallowed up at Redgate and had to fight back from fifth down Craner Curvers.

With just 16 laps to hit the front instead of 20, the Swindon talent wasted no time in recapturing his lead, and by the end of the second lap Cook was back in front and starting to pull away.

Knowing he did not have to ride flat out until the end thanks to information on his pit-board, Cook maintained a lead of around three seconds for the majority of the race.

The Binch Racing man knew he had more to give though and upped his pace to achieve a new race lap record of 1:09:49 prior to successfully taking the chequered flag.

A third win from five races so far this season put Cook at the top of the 46-rider championship ahead of the fourth weekend of action at Knockhill in Scotland later this month.

Cook and Binch Racing have said they will be working tirelessly to ensure the team strengthens its hold on the championship in the coming weeks.
