THE Bespoke Guardians Swindon Wildcats head coach Aaron Nell reached a significant milestone last weekend after recording his 1000th point for the club.

In amongst the 12-0 rout of Hull Seahawks, Nell produced his 1000th Wildcats point in a career that has stretched over a decade.

The Wildcats are the early NIHL National Division leaders after a 15-0 aggregate victory over Hull and Sheffield Steeldogs, respectively, last weekend.

Becoming only the second-ever Wildcat player to achieve the feat, Nell admitted it was special to do it in front of his family.

He said: “It tells you that I’ve been here an awfully long time! But it’s obviously very nice.

“My kids were there watching the game. I gave my youngest daughter the puck after the game, and she hasn’t let go of it since. The kids were happy, it was great for me, and hopefully there are plenty more points to come.”

Highlighting the goal which all-but secured the Autumn Cup back in 2018 against Basingstoke as his favourite point of all, Nell reflected on his career so far with nothing but pride and is targeting more silverware before he calls it a day.

The Wildcats head coach said: “Being really open, when I was younger, the goal was probably to play at a higher level. But that didn’t work out, and I’m completely fine with that.

“I’m really happy with how my career has gone with the Wildcats, and hopefully there are a few more years left in me yet so I can add more points and more trophies.”
