TEENAGE Swindon rider Max Cook delivered another masterclass to win the latest round of the Pirelli National Junior Superstock championship at Donington Park.

After sealing the British title with two wins at Oulton Park, Cook was in no mood to relax and led from the opening lap to eventually take a dominant win, 3.466 seconds ahead of Seth Crump.

Franco Bourne was a distant third, while the 21-second gap between first and fourth served to emphasise Cook’s searing pace on board his Uggly & Co by Binch Pro Yamaha.

The Swindon talent opted not to take part in Friday's practice sessions due to the poor weather that dominated throughout.

When he - and the rest of the field - took to the Derbyshire circuit on Saturday for qualifying, Cook was involved in a four-way shoot-out for pole position along with Crump, Sam Laffins, and Aaron Silvester.

After pitting on a fresh rear tyre in order to try and find some extra space on track, the Swindon teenager could only move up to second after banking third when in heavier traffic.

Nevertheless, Cook put the relative disappointment behind him to hit the front on the first corner and avoid an incident involving Laffins and Silvester behind him.

Chaining together superb lap-time after superb lap-time, Cook roared on to take the chequered flag in front and crown himself as champion.

It capped an extraordinary season for Cook, in which he had nine wins and eight pole positions, while also setting five new lap records.

Those impressive stats have led him to be one of the most talked about young riders in the country, and he has plans to build on his success next year.

Cook told Eurosport: “We’ve got a lot of exciting stuff going on behind the scenes. I’m 19 and I’d love to get into (British) Superbikes when I’m in my early twenties, and then maybe World Superbikes. Wherever it goes, I want to be a professional motorbike racer.”

Although there is still one round of the championship to go, Cook revealed on Instagram following his latest win that the Donington appearance would be his last in the 600cc competition, indicating that he will instead announce a ride in a more senior class for the final meeting of the year at Brands Hatch.
