SWINDON Town have issued a positive update after midfielder Saidou Khan was taken to hospital with a head injury on Saturday.

Khan sustained the injury in the latter stages of the Robins' 2-0 defeat away to Crawley Town at the People's Pension Stadium.

The midfielder jumped to reach a Remeao Hutton cross at the far post but was said to have accidentally collided with the knee of Crawley goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe as he did so.

As a result, Khan was down for almost 15 minutes - being treated by medical professionals at the ground - before being carried off on a stretcher and taken to a local hospital.

After being assessed by doctors on Saturday evening, Swindon Town provided good news on Khan's wellbeing.

In a tweet, the club said: "We'd like to update you all on Saidou, who was taken to hospital after suffering a head injury at the end of today's game.

"He's doing well and has just been discharged. Huge shout out to the paramedics and club staff for their quick actions earlier."

While there was reassuring news in relation to Khan, Swindon suffered a disappointing day in League Two beforehand.

Scott Lindsey's men failed to hit the target with any of their 10 shots against Crawley, and Matthew Etherington's Red Devils punished Swindon by scooping the three points courtesy of goals from Nick Tsaroulla and Jack Powell.

The Robins have dropped down to ninth in League Two as a result of losing consecutive games for the first time under Lindsey.
