A SCOTTISH Premiership club is said to be 'weighing up' a move for Swindon Town forward Jonny Williams, according to reports.

The Scotsman has said that Hibernian are interested in making a late dash for the Welshman before 11pm and could test Swindon's resolve with a late bid on Tuesday.

It is understood that Town have already rejected one bid from an SPL club for Williams this month, although it remains unclear when the rebuff occured.

Harry McKirdy made the same switch on deadline day in August, but his move was months in the making and only eventually completed in the early hours of September 2.

Hibs' interest in Williams is not thought to have not existed for as long, but Lee Johnson's men are rumoured to be eyeing up the 29-year-old in order to fuel their ambitions for a more successful second half of the season.

The Edinburgh club had endured periods of struggle this term but still find themselves fifth ahead of an away game against Ross County on Tuesday night.

They are, however, nine points behind city rivals Hearts having lost 3-0 in early January.

Williams is out of contract at Swindon in the summer, but both the club and player are thought to be keen on agreeing a new deal.

Speaking to Adver Sport about his contract situation last week, Williams said: “I’ve really enjoyed my time here. I understand my contract is up in the summer, but I’ve enjoyed my time here and I want to stay.

"If we can get something sorted, amazing, if not then who knows? But I’ve felt really at home here.

"The fans have given me a great reception from the day I walked in. It’s been a great time in my career, and I’d like to stay. Hopefully, something can get sorted."
