SWINDON Town have confirmed the signing of Burton Albion defender Frazer Blake-Tracy on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee.

Blake-Tracy arrived on an initial season-long loan deal last August and was expected to see out his Brewers contract – which was due to expire in the summer – in Wiltshire.

But due to the 27-year-old showing such an impressive all-round game – especially following his positional move to centre-back – Town opted to offer Burton money for his services right away and tie the defender down to a deal until the summer of 2024.

Speaking to Swindon’s media team after agreeing to stay, Blake-Tracy said: “I’m absolutely delighted to sign a permanent deal here. It’s been a hectic month but I’m really grateful for the opportunity to stay.

“It’s been quite an uncertain time for me, but I’ve really felt at home here, and I can’t wait to move forward knowing I’m staying for the long term, where I can focus on continuing to do my best for this great club.”

Having begun his career in non-league football with Norfolk-based Dereham Town during the 2015-16 campaign, Blake-Tracy later moved on to Lowestoft Town and Kings Lynn Town over the next couple of seasons.

The 27-year-old’s career took the next step in 2019 when he was signed by League One Peterborough United on a two-year contract.

After making 24 appearances during one of Darren Ferguson’s multiple reigns at London Road, Blake-Tracy was released in June 2022 before making the move to Burton.

His time with the Brewers resulted in just seven appearances, and the defender admitted midway through his loan move at Swindon that he did not see himself pulling on their yellow shirt ever again, despite having six months left on his Burton contract.

That prophecy proved to be true, and Blake-Tracy can now look to the future with Swindon.

Town’s technical director, Sandro Di Michele added: “We’re incredibly happy to have Frazer commit his future to the club, and this is a really positive signing for us.

“He’s a fantastic leader both on and off the pitch and lives the values we set each day with a great work ethic.

“He’s also been one of our standout performers this term, and I’m delighted fans will be seeing more of him in a Town shirt.”
