SWINDON Town head coach Jody Morris hopes his side meets the Rochdale team which is 24th in League Two on Saturday and not the one which shocked promotion-chasing Stevenage recently.

Town head to Spotland without a win in their past three games and in danger of losing touch with the play-off contenders above them.

Meanwhile, Rochdale – who are five points adrift at the foot of the division – enter the contest having beaten second-place Stevenage 2-0 in their last game on home soil.

Both sides are desperate for a victory to fuel their own ambitions this season, but Morris knows Dale will not roll over when a place in the EFL is at stake.

The Town boss said: “They’re a team which is obviously at the wrong end of the table and fighting for their lives, so that will make it difficult.

“But you have to remember, I think it was only two games ago that they beat Stevenage, so obviously they are capable of putting together a performance which can beat the better teams in the league.

“We need to make sure we’re on our game. But regardless of who we’re going up against, we went to Leyton Orient who are top of the league and I wanted to go and win the game there – it’s no different for Rochdale.

“The preparation doesn’t change, you just hope that they replicate the form that’s put them down there in the first place.”

Morgan Roberts could come into the Swindon squad on Saturday after being recalled from a loan spell at National League Aldershot Town on Thursday.

The winger was due to stay at the EBB Stadium until the current campaign concludes, but after playing just 138 minutes across four games in almost six weeks, the League Two club opted to cut the loan short in order to give Morris additional options and increase the chance of Roberts earning game time.

Asked why Roberts returned early from his time with Aldershot, Morris confirmed: “It was a lack of game time.

“There’s no point being out on loan if you’re not going to get any game time, so coming back into the building and training with the group again, you get an opportunity to get a closer look.

“Whether that means he’ll be involved straight away or not is another question, but if Morgan isn’t getting any game time away from the club then it’s probably better that he’s in front of me regularly.

“I’ve only seen Morgan in training a little bit before he went out on loan, so it’ll be good to get a closer look now.”
