SWINDON Town have launched a limited-edition vodka to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the club winning promotion to the Premier League.

On May 31, 1993, Swindon claimed victory at Wembley in one of the most memorable play-off games of all time.

Goals from Glenn Hoddle, Craig Maskell, Shaun Taylor, and a Paul Bodin penalty secured a 4-3 win over Leicester City after the Foxes had battled back from 3-0 down to equalise late on.

To mark the occasion, Town - in partnership with EatSleep Media and Cardiff Distillery - have produced just 200 individually-numbered 70cl bottles available to fans, priced at £39.95 each.

The description on Cardiff Distillery's website reads: "1993 was a great year for Swindon Town. It was the year the club won promotion to the Premier League.

"To mark the 30th anniversary, we are proud to offer this limited edition salted caramel vodka. Perfect with a mixer or on its own to toast a special time in the Robins’ history.

Town's man of the match recalls emotional and physical pain before final whistle at Wembley in 1993.

Hoddle on reason why Swindon were able to win it after being pegged back.

"Only 200 individually numbered bottles will be produced featuring a tribute to the club colours, badge and shirt design of the time - making it not just a delicious drink, but a collectors item as well.

"A perfect blend of Welsh sea salt and creamy caramel. Magnificent on its own or with a mixer."

In a statement announcing the news, Town's commercial manager, James Watts, said: "We are delighted to launch our new vodka to celebrate 30 years since Swindon Town won promotion to the Premier League.

“Creating one-off special products like this help drive extra commercial revenue for the club whilst also creating new collector’s items for fans.”

After around an hour of sales, over half of the exclusive items had been purchased.
