SWINDON's Charlie Nesbitt and Max Cook continued to build on their impressive debut seasons in the latest round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.

The talented riders were already making a positive impression in the premier domestic competition before arriving at Brands Hatch for another three-race meeting.

Nesbitt, on the MasterMac Honda by Hawk Racing, was again consistently strong as he picked up points finishes in each race, just as he had in the previous round at Snetterton.

Meanwhile Cook, riding the Cheshire Mouldings Kawasaki, made the top ten for the first time in the weekend’s opening race and repeated the feat in the third after coming home 14th in race two, meaning he also scored points for each outing.

For Nesbitt, two 11th place finishes were followed up with his best of the weekend - a ninth place in race three, taking him above Isle of Man TT star Peter Hickman to 12th overall in the championship standings.

Reflecting afterwards, Nesbitt said: “I enjoyed it. It was another meeting where I got into battles with some great riders who’ve been doing this a lot longer than I have. I feel like I’m learning all the time and the whole team is making good progress as the season goes on.”

Both riders have been receiving praise for their performances in a championship that tends to favour more experienced competitors. Their efforts in the opening race at Brands Hatch were made all the more impressive as they mastered treacherously wet conditions.

The Bennetts BSB standings are currently led by 34-year-old Tommy Bridewell, who hails from Etchilhampton, riding the BeerMonster Ducati.

The series resumes at Thruxton in Hampshire from 11-13 August.
