Harrison Minturn says that he would like to become a regular starter at Swindon Town before the end of his new deal with his boyhood club.

The 19-year-old signed a one-year contract extension with Swindon, adding to the year he was already tied down for, meaning he will be at the County Ground until the end of the 2024/25 season.

After committing to Swindon for an extra year, Minturn said that he is hoping to be able to cement a place in the team before his deal is up.

Speaking to club media, he said: “I think I would definitely like to be playing a few more games. I definitely want to push on and try and get more games here and there.

“But again, I just want to aid my development and get better, watch the lads more because I can take a lot of things from everyone.

“And then hopefully next year I will be starting, you never know.

“It [Swindon] is my boyhood club, I wanted to be here. I haven’t played that much, and I want to play and I want to be here for as long as I can.

“They [the other defenders] have been brilliant, I have not been playing but I get to watch them, and they are doing really well at the moment.

“All of them have been really good with me and try and help me and I just try and take it all on board.”

Minturn said it didn’t take any convincing from Michael Flynn to get him to sign his new deal as he wants to prove himself at Town.

He said: “It didn’t really take any influencing [to get me to sign]. This is my home club and I want to be here; I want to be playing for Swindon, and in the first team every week.

“It means everything to me every time I step out of the tunnel, sometimes I am not playing but when we score, I am like a fan, and I am celebrating as a fan.s

“When we get the wins, it is amazing, and obviously being part of the team and just being part of the club.

“[Signing the contract] has taken a couple of days longer than we wanted it to, but I am buzzing to finally get it over the line.

“It took a while, but now it is here, I am over the moon about it.”
