Michael Flynn has agreed to a new contract at Swindon Town which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2025/26 season.

The 43-year-old joined the club in May and has overseen a strong start to the season which sees Town sit just three points outside the play-off positions in League Two.

Flynn said that he was very excited to get the new contract as it gives him the opportunity to build a project at the club.

He said: "I can see the direction that the club want to go and I am excited by it.

"There has been a few bumps in the road over the last five or six years, I know it is historically longer than that, but speaking more recently.

"Anthony [Hall] coming in as the CEO, working with Jamie Russel, I am constantly on the phone to Clem [Morfuni].

"I think that we are all on the same page and I do think that the club is going to go in the right direction.

"For me, I am very appreciative of the club for doing this [give me a new contract] at this time, and it also shows that they are thinking longer term as well.

"That is one of the key components that gives you success in the end. You don't have success by chopping and changing managers, teams, or CEOs.

"It is not going to be all plain sailing just because I signed a new contract, but I know that we are all on the same page to get to where we want to be, which is out of League Two."

Swindon chairman Clem Morfuni said that he was excited to be able to give his manager a new contract after seeing the good work that has been done so far and as they are excited by the potential future they can provide.

Morfuni said: “We are delighted to be able to continue our journey with Michael and Wayne as they look to continue leading our team on the pitch.

“Their commitment, hard work and the overall exciting style of play they have been insistent on bringing to the club since their arrival in the summer, makes them a perfect match for Swindon and our supporters.

"We are delighted to be able to continue our journey with Michael and Wayne as they look to continue leading our team on the pitch."
