The fans behind Stockport County’s biggest podcast believe Swindon Town are in danger ahead of the two clubs' clash this weekend.

Town head into Saturday’s game in poor form having won none of their last five matches, a run which included a 7-4 FA Cup defeat to lower-league Aldershot Town.

County on the other hand have been flying, climbing to the League Two  summit after a winning streak of 12 consecutive games.

Russ Johnson of the Stockport County podcast The Scarf Bergara Wore, established in 2015, offered an outsider’s perspective on Town.

“Having had a fan on our podcast in the week, we know that all is not well at Swindon,” he said.

“You were the entertainers early on but that has faltered immensely recently as you appear to be conceding goals at an alarming rate.

“Added to your lack of squad depth and from the outside looking in, you appear to have apathy in the fan base which in our experience always spells danger.”

The 42-year-old who has been watching County since the late 80s believes that his side can cause problems for Town in several areas on Saturday.

“We have threats all over the pitch with strikers (Isaac) Olaofe and (Kyle) Wootton causing defences all kinds of problems,” said Russ.

“Then there’s (Antoni) Sarsevic and (Will) Collar in midfield who are both on form at the moment while the other to look out for is Bailey.

“He’s on loan from Salford but (Dave) Challinor has managed to turn him into a leading League Two attacking wide man in a short space of time.

“In terms of targeting Swindon, we’ll play our own game and look to bring the problems to your door.

“We play a passing game that looks to either get in behind or around the sides.”

Despite the dangermen, Russ believes that Michael Flynn’s Town could still shock and get a result against the league leaders.

“There’s always a chance, we’re not that naïve,” he said.

“That said, we are hugely confident if we perform to the standard that we know we are capable of.

“We know that we’ve rested players for the FA Cup game and had no midweek game so we should run out winners but this is football after all.”

Saturday’s League Two clash between the two sides at the County Ground is set to kick off at 3pm.
