Swindon Town have completed the signing of former Middlesbrough defender Williams Kokolo.

The 23-year-old moves to the County Ground as a free agent having most recently played for League One side Burton Albion last season.

Town announced the signing on Saturday afternoon prior to their clash with Stockport County, stating that the move was a short-term deal until January.

Kokolo began his career at Monaco before going on to play for North East sides Sunderland, Darlington and Middlesbrough.

He links up with manager Michael Flynn to provide cover for Town’s backline with several first-team defenders currently out injured.

The head coach confirmed during his Friday press conference that Tom Clayton, Reece Devine and Ben Ward are all out for the rest of the year.

Kokolo predominantly plays as a left-back and has a good level of first-team experience having made appearances in the Championship, League One and the FA Cup.

He scored his first career goal on February 12, 2022, for Burton in a 2-2 draw against Cambridge United and made 16 appearances in League One for the Brewers.

The transfer remains subject to EFL approval.
