Swindon Town fell to another defeat despite playing bravely against league leaders Stockport County on Saturday afternoon.

The Robins headed into the League Two clash with just one win from nine games in all competitions having been dealt heavy recent defeats by Aldershot and Colchester.

Their visitors arrived at the County Ground in scintillating form, winning all twelve of their last matches and scoring 33 goals in the process.

Michael Flynn made two changes from the defeat against Colchester as Liam Kinsella and Tyrese Shade were replaced by Saidou Khan and new signing Williams Kokolo.

Swindon Advertiser: Swindon took the lead through Dan Kemp's deflected strike.

Kokolo, playing as number 17, was announced on a short-term deal earlier on Saturday with the left-back set to stay in Swindon until January.

A minute’s silence was held prior to the match in honour of remembrance day before the referee Sam Purkiss blew his whistle to commence play.

The game started with a lot of earlier County pressure which was no surprise to most in the stadium given the visitors’ recent form.

Yet the shock came as Town fought back valiantly, going toe-to-toe with their opponents and bravely defending each attack on their goal.

Isaac Olaofe and Remeao Hutton exchanged shots in what was shaping up to be an enticing encounter between first and 10th in the table.

Swindon Advertiser: Jake Young celebrates his goal.

The Hatters won themselves a corner on the ten-minute mark and Odin Bailey’s delivery was met by Ethan Pye who saw his effort strike the Town crossbar.

Hutton was a bright spark all game but was brutally cut down by Antoni Sarcevic next to the corner flag.

Referee Sam Purkiss initially did not book the County man but changed his mind shortly after, awarding the game’s first yellow card.

County responded to the card by increasing the pressure on Murphy Mahoney’s goal but the Robins held firm.

Swindon’s persistence paid off in dramatic fashion as they found themselves leading the league leaders just minutes later.

Dan Kemp took a shot from range and saw the effort deflected mid-strike off Southam-Hales' heel.

The change of direction confused Ben Hinchliffe in the Stockport goal and put Michael Flynn’s men in front after 30 minutes.

Jake Young went close to doubling his side’s lead shortly after but his lobbed effort went agonisingly wide of Hinchliffe’s post.

Five minutes were added on before the break but County could still find no response to get past Town’s backline.

New signing Williams Kokolo had been quiet all game but did land a blow on Southam-Hales' leg to lose a free-kick.

Then Kyle Wootton was booked for dissent before referee Sam Purkiss blew the whistle with Swindon taking in a narrow lead of 1-0 into the break.

The game had not long been restarted when County were awarded a penalty and a chance to get back into the game.

Mahoney challenged Southam-Hales and earned himself a yellow card in the process.

Will Collar took the spot-kick after a lengthy delay and despite Mahoney getting a hand on it, the ball nestled into the bottom right of the net.

Michael Flynn looked to chase after the lead once more and took off Austin for Rushain Hepburn-Murphy.

The plan worked with some aplomb as Swindon found themselves in the lead once more thanks to a cracking strike from Jake Young.

As the ball hit the back of the Stockport net, the County Ground began to bounce again and belief in a shock result was rife amongst the home support.

Fortunes changed as Saidou Khan was shown a yellow card by referee Sam Purkiss for dissent.

Shortly after Stockport scored and levelled the game with a bullet header from Kyle Wootton, leaving Mahoney with no chance.

The goalkeeper did spring into action just a minute later as he made himself big enough to deny Olaofe who found himself one-on-one.

Unfortunately for Flynn’s men, this save was in vain as the visitors took the lead for the first time all afternoon just minutes later.

It was in sensational fashion that County took the lead as Odin Bailey fired from distance straight into the top right corner.

Flynn, once again sensing changes were needed, replaced new signing Kongolo and McEachran with Tyrese Shade and Liam Kinsella.

Swindon, energised by these changes, pushed forward time and time again but could not find that all-important equaliser.

The home side were then punished as County found a fourth goal on the break as substitute Callum Camps slotted past Mahoney's right side.

Seven minutes were added on but the dejected Town players who had battled hard all game could not change the scoreline.
