FRIENDSHIPS and team camaraderie will be forgotten this weekend when coveted places at Worthing in the national championships are on offer.

The county semi-finals in national singles, pairs, triples and fours as well as Under 25 singles will be staged at Chippenham Town.

The events are dominated by players from the Westlecot and Wootton Bassett clubs with no fewer than six of them competing in at least two disciplines - three of them Westlecot's Graham Hatherall and Mike Jackson plus Bassett youngster Tom Walkley feature in three semi-finals.

Fortunately for the Wootton Bassett participants they avoid each other as well as any Westlecot players.

However, it is a different tale for Swindon's top club.

Westlecot remarkably supply all four singles semi-finalists as well as three of the teams in the fours. While in the pairs the two Westlecot teams clash.

The singles will be played today, the bulk of events tomorrow, with the remaining Under 25 singles match between Holt's Wayne Simmons and Bassett's Walkley on Monday evening.
