Jake Young said that he has "no reason" to want to leave Swindon Town and return to his parent club Bradford City in January.

The man on loan from the Bantams has gone supernova at the County Ground, presently leading all players in England’s top four divisions with his 16 league goals and having scored in each of his last six appearances.

Graham Alexander has replaced Mark Hughes as manager at Bradford since Young temporarily departed the University of Bradford Stadium and he said he was keeping a close eye on the players the club had out on loan.

Alexander said that it was “good we have options to bring them back and slip them into our squad if we see fit.”

When asked about what he would choose to do with the potential of a January recall from his parent club looming large, Young said that he would like to be able to continue the best form of his career in Wiltshire.

He said: “I am loving it here, obviously I am having the best season of my career to date, so there is no reason that I would want to leave.

“Obviously, like I said at the start of the season, it is not necessarily up to me, and we will see what comes.

“I am loving it here and I am a Swindon player until I am told otherwise and that is what I am sticking with.”

Michael Flynn has been loath to praise individuals for their goal scoring all season but said he couldn’t be “too picky” with what the on-loan striker had achieved during his time at the County Ground.

The 22-year-old has scored 16 goals in 19 League Two appearances for Swindon, compared to 11 goals in 75 combined League Two appearances at his previous clubs Forest Green Rovers, Bradford, and Barrow AFC.

Due to his unrivalled form in front of goal this season, the Town boss was not feeling overly optimistic about his chances of keeping his star striker.

He said: “He’s hungry and has been all season, he has got 16 goals, he is loving his time here, and you can see the smile on his face.

“16 before December is a fantastic return and I want him to get to 30 now, before Christmas or before January, because the likelihood is that he is going to be tough to keep.”
