AFC Wimbledon winger Josh Neufville said that beating Swindon Town is the kind of thing they will need to do to achieve something this season.

Swindon head to the Cherry Red Records Stadium this Saturday hoping to climb back into the play-off places in League Two, but the Dons have their own intentions of competing for promotion this season and would leapfrog Town with a victory.

Speaking after their 5-0 victory over Ramsgate in the FA Cup Second Round, Neufville said that with the two clubs battling in the same region of the table, earning three points would be a statement of intent for the potential of the rest of the season.

Speaking to club media, he said: “We have got loads of league games in December, which we have to get points on the board in and pick up good results.

“I think we were unlucky on Tuesday night [against Gillingham], but we are not far off the play-offs and we have one ambition and one ambition only.

“On Saturday we have to back up today’s performance [against Swindon].

“It is about going on from this, Tuesday night was a bit of a wobble with conceding late from an uncharacteristic goal.

“We want to win on Saturday, Swindon at home, they are in and around us and they are the type of games you want to win if we want to do something special this season.”

The Dons have been in hot form on their own patch of late, winning each of their last five games at home across all competitions, and Jonnie Jackson is keen to keep that run going with the visit of Swindon.

Speaking to club media, he said: “I think we are still just getting going, I think there is loads more [to come], we just need to find that consistency.

“We have won five in a row now here at home and we have scored a hatful doing it, we have good players and we are set up in a way that is helping us to create chances.

“We have another big one coming up on Saturday and we want to make that six in a row.

“After talking about the home form for a long time, I think we are really motoring now and finding our feet.

“Five wins on the bounce here and we are starting to show we are a match for anyone.”
