Milton Keynes Dons head coach Mike Williamson has continued to keep his cards close to his chest in regards to the Dan Kemp situation.

Kemp was one of the heroes once again on Friday night as Swindon Town snapped a four-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory over Forest Green Rovers.

The 24-year-old opened the scoring with a low drive arrowed into the bottom corner of the net after pouncing on a loose ball on the edge of the area, before grabbing the winning goal when he charged into the near post and turned home from Tyrese Shade’s low ball.

That brace put Kemp up to 15 goals in all competitions for the season and 24 for the calendar year to go along with his eight assists this season, the second most in the division, as he has demonstrated himself to be one of League Two’s top players while on loan from fellow fourth division side MK Dons.

Speculation has persisted since August over what his parent club would choose to do when the January transfer window opens and they have the opportunity to recall him back to Stadium MK.

Since Kemp temporarily departed the Buckinghamshire club in the summer, Graham Alexander has been replaced by Williamson in the dug-out, who has spoken about his admiration for the player without disclosing his intentions.

The Dons moved into the playoffs for the first time since September with a 2-0 victory over Crawley Town on Friday night and with four consecutive wins they are now the most in-form side in the division.

Following the game, Williamson was asked about his January transfer window plans and what that could mean for several players, including former Swindon midfielder Jack Payne and Kemp.

The former Newcastle United defender refused to be drawn directly on his plans for Kemp when asked about him, instead choosing to say that he was looking to add players that could make an impact on his first team.

Speaking to club media, he said: “Payne is here for the season, so there is no question about that.

“We are looking at a number of things and I think that January is going to be huge for us and we are working extremely hard.

“Nothing is off the table, so we want to make sure that the business we do is really going to impact the starting 11 and make sure that we are stronger.”
