Crewe Alexandra manager Lee Bell said that he will not be allowing his players to drop their standards for the visit of Swindon Town this weekend.

Following back-to-back wins over Bradford City and Mansfield Town, Crewe have moved back into the play-off places following a sticky patch in which they went five games without a win.

Bell said that after getting back to winning ways in their last two games, he would not be letting his side rest on their laurels for the visit of Swindon.

Speaking to club media, he said: "That is what you have got to do, you have got to be consistent in this league to achieve anything.

“You have got to respect the opposition, Swindon are a good team, they have good players, and a good manager, so you have to be respectful of them.

“We can’t, just because we have got two good results against good teams with one doing particularly well and one hasn’t lost at home since April, think we will be fine.

“It is important that the detail and information is taken in and they [the players] go into the game with that hunger to pick up another three points.

“We are at home and we want to make it a hard place for people to come, which we have done over the last 12 months.

“We must maintain our standards and keep them as high as possible if we want to go on and achieve anything.”

Swindon faced Crewe in their opening game of the League Two season, taking a 2-0 lead thanks to Udoka Godwin-Malife and Jake Young before conceding twice in the second half and being forced to settle for a draw.

Bell said that he was very impressed by Swindon in the reverse fixture and was wary of the threat Town can pose.

He said: “In terms of where they are if you look at the league, it is so tight that you are hoping for teams to not win a couple, and if you are mid-table and put a couple of results together and be right in the mix.

“It is that tight so I wouldn’t say that they are exactly out of it, they are a good team with good players.

“I think they are a bit more open in their style of play and I thought they were excellent when we played them at their place. We are going to be in for a tough afternoon.”
