Swindon Town's home game against Tranmere Rovers in League Two has been called off due to a frozen pitch.

Cold weather across the country over the last week has seen tough conditions for football and Swindon have announced that their pitch has been called unplayable due to the frost.

It was announced yesterday that a precautionary pitch inspection would take place at the County Ground today and as a result of that the game has been postponed because of the condition of the pitch.

Other games in League Two have been impacted by the freezing temperatures this week, with Salford City calling off their game against Colchester United at the Peninsular Stadium on Thursday.

The game was set to be Gavin Gunning's first in temporary charge of the club after taking over from Michael Flynn earlier this week, Town won two and drew the other of his three games in charge last season.

Tranmere have lost their last two games in League Two against MK Dons and Barrow, but they have an excellent recent record against Town having gone unbeaten in their last five games against them, including a 2-1 win at Prenton Park last month after Dan Kemp had opened the scoring.
