Swindon Town fans are excited ahead of Harry McKirdy’s expected return to the County Ground.

After becoming a fan favourite throughout 2021/22 and scoring 26 goals in 49 games, he departed the club for Hibernian.

The 26-year-old made a shock loan return back to Town from Scotland in the closing minutes of January deadline day.

The Robins take on Salford City this afternoon at home and the attacker is expected to play a part.

Lifelong Swindon fan Martin Godden had his say ahead of the League Two clash.

“It was the best times we’ve had for years when we had Harry last time,” he said.

“He brings a bit of sunshine which has been missing this season.

“Having him back is brilliant as I felt really sorry for him with that penalty last time.

“We wouldn’t hold that against him because he’s quality.”

The 45-year-old fan also was keen to see the attacking partnership develop between McKirdy and striker Charlie Austin.

“I think he will change the morale as once he scores a goal he will be back to what he was,” he

“I think him and Austin together will be great as Charlie can calm him down a little.

“They’ll bounce off each other well.”

Ady Titley has been watching Town play for decades and was extremely happy to see McKirdy return to the club.

“I think he’s a real crowd pleaser if get the right side of Harry,” said the 65-year-old.

“He brings something different to the crowd and I think a promotion push is still possible with him onboard.

“Him and Austin will work well together and Charlie just needs the right ball on his head.”
