SUPERMARINE may be entertaining Evesham United at Hunts Copse tomorrow, but don’t be surprised if you see Mark Collier and his side travelling round Swindon on the team coach a couple of hours before kick-off.

A 100 per cent start to the season on their travels has lifted Marine to the early dizzy heights of fourth in the table, but all their good work has been tempered by two home defeats already.

Collier admits things have to change if they are to continue to challenge at the right end of the table, and joked about employing some ‘away-day’ psychology for tomorrow’s Southern League Premier Division clash.

He revealed: “I think sometimes it’s easier going away from home because you sit on the bus for an hour or two and there’s banter flying about between the lads. It gives you a chance to all gel together and everyone gets really up for the game.

“We’ve spoken about it and said it may be a good idea to all get picked up in the coach somewhere, drive around for a bit and then go to the ground and treat it like an away game.

“I’m not sure though whether it’s the best use of the club’s finances, especially with the way petrol prices are!”

After watching his side battle to a hard-fought 2-1 win at Merthyr Tydfil on Tuesday night, Collier believes his side need to push themselves to recreate those sort of performances on their own patch.

He admitted: “It goes without saying that we want to win as many home games as we can. We don’t set up any different away from home but when you’re at home the onus is on you to make the running and take the game to the opposition.

“Teams enjoy coming here. It’s a decent surface and you can get the ball down and play on it, but it’s our home ground and we should be better on it.

“It’s our own patch and we should make it difficult for teams to come and get anything from us. At Merthyr Tydfil there was an inner strength about us and we must make sure we can recreate that at home.”

Leigh Henry and Enoch Boateng both miss out for Supermarine through suspension, but full-back Danny Allen returns after completing a two game ban, and Ashley Edenborough is back following work commitments.

n CHIPPENHAM Town will include teenager Raynold Turnock in their squad for tomorrow’s trip to Bedford Town as the winger continues a month’s trial at Hardenhuish Park.

The 18-year-old came off the bench for the final 25 minutes of Chippenham’s 2-1 defeat to Stourbridge on Tuesday night and is looking to impress after being released by League One side Yeovil Town.

The Bluebirds will be looking to get back to winning ways as they bid to turn around an inconsistent start to the campaign, which has seen them win just two of their six games so far.
