Cirencester Town manager Adi Viveash is looking for an emphatic performance from his players as they bid to make amends for their disappointing FA Cup exit at the hands of Newport Pagnell with victory over Abingdon at the Corinium Stadium on Saturday.

Viveash was left seething after defeat to a side which “with all due respect, we should never have lost to”.

The Centurions are hopeful that Nathan Haisley will return to the fold after missing the cup game with a badly bruised foot.

The new arrival of Lee Stevens and an unnamed midfielder, expected to sign on loan from a Conference South club in time for the weekend, have bolstered the side and Viveash is “expecting a big response” from his players.

“The only way to respond is on the pitch,” he said.

“There will possibly be a few changes to the side on Saturday. This is a good game for us, Abingdon have come off the back of a big defeat at Slough on Tuesday and their confidence will be low.

“We have three games left in September that give us a chance to make progress. The only way you do anything is through back-to-back wins.”

Viveash challenged the players to hold a winning mindset as the season progresses.

“There’s been a losing mentality at the club for the last four years but I’m pretty pleased with the start we’ve made. We need to find consistency in a new squad. I’m happy with the players but they’re better than they’ve shown, they know they need to perform.” Viveash maintains, however, that the season is still in its infancy and there remains plenty of time for the squad to mould together.

“We shouldn’t be talking about tables until 12 games in.”
