KEN Regan believes his side have the perfect opportunity tomorrow to stabilise their stuttering cup form at the expense of Launton Sports.

The Vics travel to the Bicester Road Playing Fields in the first round of the Supplementary Cup, and will face a team who are rock bottom of Division One East, without a win all season and only three points to their name.

And, despite admitting the competition is far from his main priority, Regan knows they can put right some poor showings of their own in the cups this season.

“Launton are having a poor season and we’ll obviously be going there looking to win,” he said.

“But we’re not the best cup side and are out of every other one we’ve been in.

“If I’m honest it’s not a competition I’m really that interested in – it’s one that we could do without. The league is our priority.

“Having said that, it’s a good chance to improve our cup form. Obviously we are in the competition, so we’ll be going out there to win and it’s a great opportunity to do that.

“Winning breeds confidence and we can take that back into the league as we look to finish in the top three.”

Malmesbury will have to do without recent signings Elliot Jackson and Phil Corcoran, who are both cup tied.

Three other local sides are in cup action – John Paget’s Fairford Town are away at Pegasus Juniors, Cricklade Town go to Hook Norton, and Cirencester United make the trip to Kintbury Rangers.
