SWINDON Town were today pulling out all the stops to ensure their Coca Cola League One home clash against Southend would go ahead.

As heavy overnight snow again caused chaos throughout the town, the club were still confident they could get tomorrow's game played despite the freezing conditions.

The covers laid on the County Ground playing surface have remained in place and will do so tonight, while an army of volunteers and club officials are expected to clear the fallen snow from on the top of them this afternoon.

The club have also taken steps to address the concerns over fans' ability to get the the match tomorrow.

Work was due to start on clearing the car parks outside the stadium, while a supply of grit from Banbury was also due to arrive to aid the process.

A club spokesman said: "We're still intent on getting the game on and a lot of work will take place today and tomorrow morning to help that happen.

"Obviously we'll have to wait and see what the weather does in the area, but we're still hopeful."
