GORDON Greer revealed he is interested in a full-time switch to Swindon after being offered a permanent deal at the County Ground.

The centre-back arrived in Wiltshire on loan in January and played a major part in stabilising a leaky defence as Town pulled away from the League One drop zone.

With Greer’s contract at parent club Doncaster up in the summer, Swindon chiefs have made clear their intentions for a better year next season by putting a deal to the Scot.

And although there are other offers on the table for the 28-year-old, he admits he would be tempted by a return to Town.

Greer said: “It feels like it’s time to move on from Doncaster and I want the best deal possible for myself and my family.

“I’ve been offered a deal for Swindon, but there are offers to go back to Scotland and a couple in League Two to look at as well.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time here. I’ve loved working with the manager and players here, so we’ll just see what happens.

“I’d like to get it done the sooner the better for me and my family, but I’ll have to weigh up everything.”

Such was Greer’s influence during his three-month spell that Danny Wilson made him captain, and Town’s boss is hopeful he will get his man.

“How well Gordon’s played for us, I’m sure there will be other people looking at his situation, but we just hope we’ve put a marker down for him,” said Wilson.

“We would like him to stay and have put an offer to him, so that shows our commitment to it, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

“I think he’s enjoyed it here. He likes the area, he loves the fans, so let’s just hope we can come to some sort of agreement.”
