Purton boss Stef Kuczynski praised his side’s “fantastic result” as they thrashed local rivals Wroughton 5-0 in the Wiltshire League Premier Division, writes PAUL TITCHENER.

Two Ryan Child goals - including a fantastic 20-yard strike - and further efforts from Colin Yates, Gavin Allen and Joe Deyager gave the visitors all three points to leave Kuczynski purring.

“It is always a fantastic result when you win 5-0 away from home,” said the manager.

“It was a job well done. The lads thoroughly deserved the win as they worked hard.

“We’ve got 11 games left this season, including winnable ones against Marlborough and Trowbridge at home. If we win the next two then anything can happen.”

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, New College extended their lead at the top of the table with a comfortable 3-0 win at Calne Town, while KC’s ran out victorious 3-1 at Pewsey Vale, as Terry Moore, Mark Bowser and Kenny Hawkins netted.

The big game in the Premier Division this weekend sees Wroughton host table-toppers New College, while Purton are at home to Marlborough, Trowbridge host fourth-placed KC Club and Westside have a home game against Corsham.

In Division One on Saturday, Minety continued their pursuit of leaders SKS Blyskawica with a 2-0 away win at Byrons Wanderers. The result leaves them seven points off the top with three games in hand.

Lowly Malmesbury Victoria were dealt a blow when they went down 8-0 away to Chalke Valley, who are closing in on the league’s top three. And fellow strugglers Intel were also on the wrong end of a heavy scoreline with a 6-0 hammering by high-flying Swindon NALGO.

The pick of the games this weekend sees Minety travel to AFC NPower, Byrons Wanderers entertain Intel and Greenmeadow host bottom side Swindon Irons.

There was no action in Division Two as all four fixtures fell foul of the weather, while the Corsham Print Senior Cup third round tie between Westbury United and FC Chippenham Youth was also postponed.

Weather permitting, the schedule will return to normal this time around, and Division Two should see leaders Moredon Cheney at home to mid-table KMLC. Pembroke entertain Chiseldon and Wroughton Reserves host Lower Stratton.

There is also an all-first division clash in the second round of the Fountain Trophies Junior Cup as NALGO and Chalke Valley go head to head.
