FARINGDON Town suffered defeat in the quarter-finals of the Berks and Bucks Intermediate Cup at the weekend.

Peter Soane gave Faringdon the lead early in the second half against Hellenic League Division One East side Wokingham and Emmbrook. But Wokingham hit back with three goals to seal the tie, with the last of these coming very late in the game.

In the quarter-finals of the Nairne Paul Trophy, Shrivenham A won 3-0 at Harwell Village Reserves in an all-Third Division clash.

Goals from Mark Belcher, Matt Hampson and Paul Sanders sewed up an emphatic win for Shrivvy.

Fourth Division Coleshill United Reserves also took on a side from the same level, and lost 4-3 on penalties to Marcham Reserves, after the game finished 1-1 following extra time.

James Head’s goal for Coleshill was equalised by Phil Stokes for Marcham, before Christian Barrett produced two fine saves to steer Marcham into the semi-finals.

Elsewhere, Lambourne Sports were defeated 2-1 by in-form Saxton Rovers in Division One. Terry Wood scored a penalty for Lambourn but efforts from Tom Larman and Paul Churchouse ensured the win for Rovers.

In Division Two, Lambourn Sports Reserves were on the end of a 4-1 defeat to Botley United.

Chris Potter, Andy Potter, Darren Witchall and Mark Penner all scored for Botley, with Steve Crame replying for Lambourn.
