NICK Watkins believes Town’s chiefs are learning from their previous mistakes, after announcing matchday ticket prices for the 2010/11 season.

Swindon have revealed the cost of seats in each stand for next year, taking into consideration whether their promotion push is successful or not with both Championship and League One prices published.

An adult ticket in the Town End would cost £18 in the Championship and £16 in League One, with a seat in the Arkell’s Stand or Don Rogers Stand being £18 or £23 depending on the division.

And Watkins, pictured right, admitted the club are determined to make the cost more appealing to supporters, having made errors on that front this campaign.

“Perhaps we made a bit of a mistake in charging £22 for a matchday Saturday fixture this year,” explained Town’s chief executive.

“We ended up dropping the prices for some games to try and encourage people to come along.

“That price is a bit of a clumsy number because people have to put a £20 note over the desk and then an extra £2, and that might have been a deterrent.

“So we have tried to make it more simplistic for next season, and also reintroduced the advanced booking arrangement whereby if you come to the ticket office before the matchday there is a couple of pounds saved.”

This latest announcement has come just a couple of weeks after the club revealed their season ticket initiative for the next campaign - in which fans can purchase a seat in the Town End for just £199 before Monday, March 15.

And Watkins believes having all the information available to them will allow supporters to realise just how good the savings can be.

“We don’t want to confuse the fans by coming up with a price after May 1, and be seen to be capitalising on the success or otherwise of the club,” he said.

“When you look at the new matchday prices and compare them to the average price of a ticket under a new season ticket, you can see there is a significant saving.

“Hopefully that will act as a spur for people to realise there is much better value buying a season ticket.”
