SIMON Ferry doesn't expect Celtic's managerial situation to affect his future, with the midfielder reiterating his desire to turn his County Ground loan spell into a permanent stay.

Tony Mowbray was sacked from the SPL giants last week after a poor spell in charge, culminating with a 4-0 humiliation at the hands of St Mirren.

Ferry, on loan at Town from Parkhead for the season, has previously made no secret of his desire to sign on full-time in Wiltshire and that stance hasn't changed.

“I worked with him (Mowbray) in pre-season and then was on the bench for the first couple of games, so it was only a couple of months but he was a nice enough guy,” Ferry told the Advertiser.

“But it obviously never worked out after the result against St Mirren and I thought it was going to happen. That's just football.

“I haven't heard anything about my situation, but I wouldn't imagine it will change that much depending on who gets the job.

“There's a lot of different factors like what the manager here wants and things like that, so I'm just waiting until the end of the season and will let people speak about what they want to do.

“I've said it before that if Swindon wanted to sign me then it would be something I would definitely look at, but the two clubs would need to agree something first before anything happens.”

Neil Lennon has taken over the Celtic hotseat until the end of the season, having been both a player and coach at the Glasgow club, and Ferry has backed him to be a success.

“I've known Lenny for years, both as a player when I was a young boy and then he took over as reserve manager,” explained the 22-year-old.

“I think he will do really well because he knows what the club is all about and is going to get the fight back into the players. That's what they need.

“He's got the fans on his side straight away and they want to see him get the job. If he does well until the end of the season then maybe he will get the job.”
