BRADFORD University alumni Iffy Onuora is on the hunt for victory honours as he returns today to the city that provided him with a valuable double' education, writes JON RITSON.

His four years as a young scholar not only culminated in an economics degree, it also saw him make his first tentative steps on the road to management.

It isn't just Tony Blair that believes in education, education, education' and Onuora, pictured above, is hoping to teach Bradford a lesson this afternoon.

In particular, the manager will be looking to as many of his students as possible to contribute goals, a sign in his eyes of continuing progress.

He said: "It was a nice time and I just about about scraped my degree amid the football and other bits of student life.

"I lived there for four years and had the opportunity to go to Valley Parade a few times.

"While I was there I actually started on my coaching badges, working with the community through a scheme run by the council and the club if I remember.

"From small acorns, as they say."

And although he enjoyed student life, it also left Onuora fully able to appreciate the importance of education, especially in an industry with such a high failure rate.

In his previous role as youth development officer at the County Ground, one of his tasks was to stress to youngsters and parents the value of not shutting any alternative doors.

He said: "Even when you reach scholarship level, you aren't guaranteed to make it.

"Your education is important and you "If you've a bit more life knowledge and education knowledge then that can only be a positive thing."

Education is all about improving yourself and your situation and Onuora points to a greater sharing of goals as a sign that his team are indeed progressing.

Recent games have seen more unfamiliar names on the scoresheet.

Onuora said: "We had Stef (Miglioranzi) scoring against Bournemouth with Ricky Shakes and Charlie Comyn-Platt against Doncaster Rovers.

"That's the mark of a good team for me.

"All the great teams have goals from all positions, whether it's midfielders or maybe centre halves scoring from set plays.

"If we're just getting to that stage where we can now start to kind of expect goals from other sources then that's progress."
