NORTH WILTS & DISTRICT YOUTH & MINOR LEAGUE: Stratton Juniors have one hand on the under 16 championship shield after they defeated one of their two rivals Purton on Tuesday night.

Goals from Bradley Grey, Dan Tooze and Dave Glover gave Stratton a 3-1 win, Matt Hobbs replying for Purton.

Wootton Bassett put distance between themselves and Kingsdown for fourth spot with an emphatic 7-0 win.

A hat-trick from Phil Tearle, two headers from corners from Josh Dimond, plus goals from Aaron Stevens and Tom Marchment secured the points.

Ferndale remained just behind Wootton Bassett after a 3-0 win over Greenmeadow, Ravi Johal, Jake Page and Josh Paddon with the Ferndale goals.

Ferndale failed to take advantage of one of their games in hand on Thursday when they went down 4-2 at home to Purton, Bobby Amos and Steve Green scoring their goals.

A solitary goal from Karl Houghton was enough to secure a midweek win for Juventus Juniors at Cricklade Youth, while Walcot Wanderers were 5-1 away winners at Highworth Juniors, Ziggy Wardale (3), Dan Pidgeon and James Stares for Walcot, Ben Baker replying for Highworth.

Greenmeadow returned to winning ways on Friday night with a 3-0 away win at Shaw.

On Sunday Stratton Juniors were made to work hard for all three points by Juventus Juniors, in the end two goals from Dave Glover plus one from Dan Tooze in a 3-2 win took Stratton to within one win of at least securing a play-off for the title and four points from being confirmed champions. Chris Moulton and Chris House scored for Juventus.

Wroughton ensured the title race lasted another week with a hard fought win at Kingsdown United, a glancing header from a corner midway through the second half from Luke Watkins was all that separated the two sides. Kingsdown pushed for an equaliser but Wroughton held out to take the points.

Purton made no mistake at home against Wroughton C, Daryl Charman hitting five in a 12-0 win, the others coming through Tom Barbieri (2), Lee Hobbis (2), Alex Kinloch, Shaun Harris and Matt Hobbs.

Fourth met fifth at Ferndale and it was visitors Wootton Bassett Town who took the lead in the first minute courtesy of an own goal. Richard Crocker put Ferndale back on level terms before the break following a good ball in from Steve Green.

Jake Page put Ferndale in front with a stunning strike before it was Bassett's turn to score an own goal to make it 3-1.

The visitors then missed a host of chances, as Ferndale held on for three deserved points.

Greenmeadow found their shooting boots at home to Walcot Wanderers as goals from Steve May (3), Josh Little (3), Ashley Nicholls (2) and Lee Moulton gave them a 9-2 win.

Goals from Sam Elwell, Josh Goldsworthy and Joe Herbert gave Croft a 3-0 home win over Lydiard Youth, Lydiard having the honour of being the first team to complete their 30 league fixtures in the league's largest division.

Cricklade led 3-0 at home to Wroughton B courtesy of goals from David Haney (2) and Daniel Thompson but Wroughton came out battling in the second half and engineered an inspired comeback. A hat-trick from Ben Curtis, including the winner three minutes from time, plus an 18-yard strike from Reece Miller gave Wroughton the points.

Four goals from Arron Hall and one from James Baker helped Shaw defeat Highworth Juniors 5-3. Dean Edwards (2) and Dion Titcombe scored for Highworth.

Under 18

With Chippenham Wanderers already crowned under 18 champions, Sunday saw the two sides competing for runners-up spot meet head to head.

It was Stratton Juniors who emerged victorious against North Swindon Panthers to take second place with a 4-2 away win, Ashley Gee and Liam Edmundson getting the Panthers' goals.

A hat-trick from Danny Mastalerz plus two for Rory Sproule gave Swindon Badgers a 5-2 away win at Blunsdon Colts.

Badgers will complete the division's fixtures next week when they meet Purton in the one outstanding game.

Under 15

Two games were played on Tuesday evening. The game between Swindon Soccer Skills and Highworth Juniors saw neither side find the net, while Shrivenham & Watchfield won the battle at the bottom of the table, defeating Wootton Bassett Town 2-1 at Rylands Way, Luke Coxhead and Oliver Baily for Shrivenham, James Dixon replying for Bassett.

Stratton Juniors B edged closer to the title on Wednesday with a 4-3 away win at Westlea Wanderers, Jamie Pictor (2), Steve Kier and Ben Hunter doing the damage for Stratton, David Bray scoring all three Westlea goals.

In a busy week for Highworth Juniors they had a good 4-0 away win on Thursday at Croft, Chris Avery (2), Dan King and Tino Pileggi scoring.

Swindon Soccer Skills returned to winning ways on Friday night with a 3-2 away win at Shrivenham & Watchfield, Danny Da Cova and Jack Wright scoring for Shrivenham.

Croft Juniors became the first side in the division to complete their fixtures when they went down 6-1 at home on Saturday to AFC Barbury, Levi Cox for Croft, Max Etheridge, Dan Franklin and Stuart Hillis all bagging a brace for Barbury.

On Sunday, Stratton Juniors B moved to within two points of the title when a solitary strike from Saxon Sheppard gave them all three points from their visit to Highworth Juniors.

It was the same score at Fairford where Westlea Wanderers came away with all three points.

AFC Barbury kept the title race alive for another week at least with a 5-1 home win over Swindon Soccer Skills, their win coming courtesy of goals from Stuart Hillis, Dan Franklin, Nathan Cooper, James Turner and Lee Smith, Dane Tregoning replying for Soccer Skills.

Shaw and Ferndale Rodbourne shared four goals and the points, Paul Halliday and Jack Duckers for Shaw, Daniel Bond and Craig Dagless scoring for Ferndale.

Brunel Boys became the first side in the division to complete their fixtures when they hit seven without reply at home to Wootton Bassett Town, Zac Westlake, Ewen Lever, Wade Dixon, Luke Broadbank, Dominic Butenshaw, Steve Pleass and Alex Jeffries with the Brunel goals.

Under 14 Division 1

Wednesday night saw Ferndale Rodbourne A and Bemerton Heath Harlequins share four goals and the points in a top of the table clash which leaves Bemerton looking the favourites for the title again.

Scorers for Bemerton were Callum Coker and Sam Aldridge, Gianluca Costabile and Daniel Drewett replying for Ferndale.

Lydiard Youth went three points clear at the top the following evening with a 3-1 away win at Croft Juniors for whom Chris Godwin scored the consolation goal.

On Sunday, Ferndale Rodbourne completed their fixtures with a comprehensive 10-2 away win at Shaw to go level on points with Lydiard, Craig Mooney and James Parsons with the Shaw goals.

Bemerton closed to within a point of both teams with three games to play with a 3-1 home win over Croft Juniors, Lloyd Barr (2) and Tom Plant scoring for Bemerton, Tom Green replying for Croft.

Sam Jenner scored for Malmesbury and Todd Hathaway for Fairford in a 1-1 draw at the Red Bull.

Under 14 Division 2

Midweek goals from Sam McVeigh, Oumar Balde, Dominic Gordon, Tom Melton-Ruddock and an own goal kept Swindon Soccer Skills in pole position in a 5-0 away win at Highworth Juniors.

Not to be outdone the following evening second placed Purton won 4-1 at home against third-placed Shrivenham to make it just a two -horse race for the title, Adam Bedwell (2), Dean Hobbis and Josh Harper scoring for Purton.

On Sunday, Purton moved to within a point of Swindon Soccer Skills with a game in hand following a 6-1 home win over Ferndale Rodbourne B, Alex Green (2), Adam Bedwell, Josh Harper, Sam Berwick and Ryan Norman on target for Purton, Ryan Matthews replying for Ferndale.

There plenty of goals across the whole division on Sunday with Brunel Boys winning 5-3 at Ramsbury, Sherston winning 5-2 at home against Blunsdon Colts and Highworth Juniors and Stratton Juniors sharing six goals.

James Clifford was the Brunel Boys top marksmen on the day with a hat-trick, Sean Carter and Dean Griffin with the other goals.

Sam Parker and Will Barrass both bagged a brace for Sherston in their win, Ross Mynes with the fifth.

A hat-trick from Stratton Youths' Steve Massarella was not enough to give them all three points in the bottom of the table clash, Josh Wild (2) and Laith Darhali ensuring Highworth Juniors shared the points.

Under 13 Division 1

Wednesday night saw Ferndale Rodbourne close the gap on Shaw and Shrivenham when they hit four without reply at home to Wroughton, two for Steve Hill and one apiece for Matthew Beauchamp and Vince Tapster.

Brunel Boys also had a good home win on the same night, hitting six without reply against Cricklade, Adam Higgins (2), Chris Pocock, Liam Ody, Michael Malekides and Shannon Pocock with the Brunel goals.

Wootton Bassett returned to winning ways the same evening with a 4-3 success over Stratton Juniors A, Brett Fairclough fired a hat-trick and Tyler Sheppard added a fourth, Josh Macmillan (2) and Aaronjeet Kharoud replying for Stratton.

Shrivenham re-established their lead at the top of the table with a 4-2 away win at Stratton Juniors B, Jordan O'Reily and Ben Phillips with the Stratton goals.

Wroughton had an excellent 8-2 away win at Liden Community on Saturday with both Oliver Armstrong and Scott Currie getting four goals apiece, Tyler Lane and Jason McGovern replying for Liden.

On Sunday, the big game was at Ferndale between unbeaten Ferndale Rodbourne and leaders Shrivenham & Watchfield.

Ferndale took a massive stride towards the title with an emphatic 6-1 win, Josh Parsons and Steve Hill both bagging a brace, Matthew Beauchamp and Josh Skeates adding one apiece, Craig Thompson hit the Shrivenham goal.

Shock of the day was at Chestnut Springs where second-placed Shaw went down 2-0 at home to Greenmeadow.

Stratton Juniors B won the Stratton derby 6-2, on target for the B side were Jordan O'Reilly (2), Jeremy Marsh (2), Nathan Richens and Jake Henwood, Sam Jackson and Aaronjeet Kharaud replying for the A side. Goals from Matt Seager and Jordan Williams gave Croft Juniors a 2-0 home win over Cricklade Youth. Wootton Bassett Town and Brunel Boys shared six goals, Tyler Sheppard, Sean Miles and Brett Fairclough scored for Bassett, Liam Ody (2) and Shannon Pocock for Brunel.
