DANNY Wilson does not want to offload defender Lecsinel Jean-Francois in the January transfer window.

The Advertiser understands Championship outfit Swansea City and Scottish Premier League side Hibernian have both registered their interest in the 24-year-old with Town in the last few days.

And with no official bids as yet forthcoming, the Robins boss has warned potential suitors off his Haitian international.

“Why would we want him to go?” he said. “He had a fantastic game the other night, he’s hardly played many games this season for one reason or another when he comes in and he plays like he did the other night.

“There's no reason to let him go. He's out of contract at the end of the season and we have an option, but unless someone comes in and prises us greatly with an offer then I would say no.”

As the County Ground’s revolving door spins faster and faster, and with Monday’s 11pm deadline rapidly approaching, Wilson insisted the club are pushing hard for new faces to aid the team as they bid to climb into midtable in League One.

The 51-year-old pleaded to fans to understand the nature of the transfer window, and asked them to realise he and the Swindon hierarchy know the areas that need reinforcing better than anyone.

Answering a question on whether he thought Town were lightweight up front, Wilson said: “We’re not foolish enough to think that isn't the case. With a bit of luck we may get three in, who knows.

“We know what we need and we've known for a while. You can see why everyone wants Charlie (Austin) because strikers are at a premium.

“Everybody wants one, ask any agent up and down the country what managers are looking for and they'll tell you a striker, but we’re in a queue of clubs for certain players.

“It’s whether we are at the top of the pecking order or bottom whether we get the players we’re inquiring about.”

Exeter are the opponents in the latest relegation six-pointer for the Robins tomorrow.

And Wilson is confident visiting manager Paul Tisdale, who was in town to watch Swindon draw 0-0 with Tranmere on Tuesday night, will have seen plenty in his side to be concerned about.

“I’d like to think he (Tisdale) sees a bit of resilience in there,” he said. “I’d like to think that he saw some attacking prowess as well, that may cause them some problems when they face us.

“I hope they put a team out that respects us in terms of what we are able to do.”
