DANNY Wilson could not hide his frustration after Town dominated their League One clash with Colchester United this afternoon, only to come away dejected after a 2-1 defeat.

A David Mooney penalty, after an Andrew Frampton handball, and Steven Gillespie’s injury-time strike sunk Swindon, for whom Scott Cuthbert nodded home five minutes after half time.

But, one David Lucas save aside, those two openings were all the Essex outfit could muster as the Robins controlled midfield and showed a gritty determination so refreshing given their current circumstances.

And therefore another loss – taking Town’s miserable run to six defeats and three draws in their last nine outings – was even more difficult for Wilson to take.

“From start to finish (we dominated),” he said. “We talk about commitment and desire, everything was there today for the boys.

“I feel so sorry for the lads. How they’ve not come away with anything I don’t know.

“In general play I thought we were fantastic today.”

Once again fortune played a major role in Swindon’s loss, with referee Graham Salisbury turning down a penalty shout with the score locked at 1-1, when the ball struck a Colchester arm in almost the same fashion as Frampton’s earlier in the game.

Slammed Salisbury’s performance, criticising the inconsistencies in his decision-making.

“Again we’ve had two handball decisions go against us. I can’t believe he (Salisbury) didn’t see it.

“It’s a blatant handball at 1-1, and if we get that we get the goal. They’re just not getting given. Some of the decisions are just shocking.

“Arguably one of their boys could have been sent off for his tackle on Dave Lucas. You should see the state of his leg – things like this you would hope the referee gives you the right decision.

“It looks like I’m moaning again and I am moaning again because the big decisions have cost us.”
