MOREDON Cheney’s unbeaten seven-match run came to an end as they lost 1-0 to visitors Calne Town in the Wiltshire League Premier Division.

The Swindon side had won six and drawn one of their previous seven games and were facing an outfit who had not been in action for five weeks.

But the visitors took the lead on the half hour courtesy of a crisp strike from Mark Sharratt, and after the break Calne stopper Jamie Bartlett made some impressive saves to prevent the hosts from equalising.

AFC NPower held AFC Bradford to a 2-2 draw with Luke Smith and Steve Bryant scoring before the break for the latter side.

In the second half NPower drew level thanks to goals from Adam Mayhew and Terry Dearing.

Blyskawica edged a tight encounter with Marlborough Town 1-0, as Sam Jenkins netted the only goal of a scrappy game.

The clash between Wroughton and visitors Purton Redhouse was not one for defensive purists as the teams played out a 4-4 blockbuster.

Maher Ali bagged a hat-trick on his Wroughton debut and man of the match Steve Lowe scored a late equaliser for the home side, while Craig Hogg (2), Jimmy Wright and Steve Dixey were on the mark for Purton.

Visiting boss Stef Kuczynski was amazed by what he had witnessed, saying: “It could easily have been seven goals each.”

FC Chippenham Youth took maximum points at Amesbury as Mark Nolan (2) and Joe Forrester registered in the first half, to set up a 3-1 victory.

Liam Jones converted a penalty for Amesbury after the break but it only proved a consolation.

New College reached the quarter-finals of the Corsham Print Senior Cup after beating Devizes Reserves 2-1, thanks to a brace from Nathan Blackford.

In Division One, leaders FC Sanford made it 19 wins from the same number of games as they thrashed Moredon Cheney Reserves 6-0.

Old Town Wanderers cruised to a 4-1 victory over Malmesbury Vics Reserves and Intel won 1-0 at Lower Stratton.
