CALVIN Andrew has the ambition to play at the highest level he can and will not be short offers in the summer, according to Swindon boss Paul Hart.

The 24-year-old striker scored his first goal for the club in the 1-0 win over Brentford on Saturday to end a run of 18 games without victory and give Town a glimmer of hope of retaining their League One status.

Andrew arrived at the County Ground on March 10 from Crystal Palace having found his first-team chances limited at the Championship side.

Under Hart, though, he has been an ever present and there is little doubt that both he and Swindon are reaping the benefits of him having a regular run of games.

And when asked by the Advertiser whether Andrew would be wise to consider dropping down the leagues for regular football, Hart said: “Calvin is a very ambitious person. He is here for two reasons, to help me out and to help himself out, and show people what he can do.

“He was on loan at Millwall earlier this season and I think they put an offer in for him and it was turned down by George Burley. He will be well-sought after in the summer I am sure.”

Andrew has never been a prolific scorer in his short career so far, having managed just 11 league goals in over 130 appearances since making his professional debut for Luton seven years ago.

But it is the other parts of his game that make him an admired striker, and Hart feels he has more than proven his worth to Town in every game he has played for the club.

“Calvin brings a lot,” added the 57-year-old. “When I came in I made the point that he is here to give us something different.

“He will score goals but not on a regular basis. He creates havoc for other people to feed off and I think that has been proven.

“Although he has not scored many goals, the chances that have come since he has been in the side have been in abundance.”
