ALAN O’Brien does not feel he was given a fair chance by boss Paul Hart and accepts his future lies away from Swindon.

The Irish winger, pictured left, had been a regular starter this year under Danny Wilson but suffered a hamstring injury in early February and by the time he returned to full fitness, Wilson had been replaced by Hart.

O’Brien, 26, initially appeared a part of the 57-year-old’s plans as he came off the bench in the 1-0 defeat to Plymouth on March 8.

But since then the former Newcastle trainee has found himself frozen out of the first team, and Hart, pictured right, last week confirmed he is unlikely to play for Town again before his contract expires in the summer.

O’Brien was disappointed with the outcome, telling the Advertiser: “I haven’t done anything wrong.

“It is obviously his decision so I have to deal with it and try and get somewhere else to go. I don’t think there is anything I could have done or can do to get into the first team.

“It is disappointing because I was feeling good when he came in and I had done okay in the games before that.

“Obviously I got injured but when I was coming back I still felt good but I just was not involved at all, so it was a bit disheartening.

“But it is football so I just have to get on with it.”

O’Brien is keeping himself fit by turning out for the reserves at the moment but is hopeful of getting himself fixed up at a new club as soon as possible.

As yet, he has no particular destination in mind and is just searching for a club that will give him first-team football.

“I just want to go to a team that wants me there and wants to play me, so wherever that is I will go,” he added.

“I don’t have any kind of preferences, I just want to play football week in, week out.

“My contract is up in the summer, so it is looking like I will be going whatever happens.”
