SWINDON Town chairman Jeremy Wray has confirmed no decision on the managerial situation is likely to be made until next week as the club continue to receive applications for the position.

Former boss Paul Hart parted company with the club last Thursday after failing to guide the Robins to League One survival and youth team boss Paul Bodin was immediately installed as caretaker boss until the end of the season.

Bodin has already stated his interest in taking on the role full time while the likes of Paul Trollope and Richard Money have been strongly linked, with the former having been seen at one or two of Town's games in recent months.

As of yesterday, the club had received less than 20 applications and Wray hinted it will be those received between now and the end of the week that will be seriously considered.

He told the Advertiser: “There is no real update at the moment.

“We have had several applications over the last few days but that is where we are at.

“At the moment we are in the teens in terms of applications received.

“There is no set deadline but we do want someone who is enthusiastic and you would like to think those keen on the job will have their applications in this week.”

Wray refused to disclose whether high-profile managers or those currently employed by other clubs had applied, adding: “There has been a whole mixture of applicants but I don’t want to highlight any one of those so far.”

Glenn Hoddle is another name that has been linked with the position, given his history with the club and his well-publicised appearance at the MK Dons home game last month.

Hoddle was at the game to catch up with old friend John Gorman – currently assistant boss with the MK Dons - but Wray also confirmed there has been some interest from the Glenn Hoddle Academy in setting up links with a lower league side in England.

“His academy are looking to tie up with a club in England and they asked if they could come and watch a couple of games,” he added.

“Glenn came to the MK Dons game because of his connections and he wanted to meet a few people, obviously he knows (MK Dons assistant manager) John Gorman very well, but some of his other staff members have attended other games.”
