PRESTON boss Phil Brown will make a decision on whether to follow up his interest in Alan Sheehan today with the Swindon full-back due to turn out in a second trial match for the club.

The Lilywhites are looking to strengthen the left back position as they prepare for life in League One next season following their relegation from the Championship, and Sheehan played 90 minutes for the club's reserves on Monday as they beat Accrington Stanley 2-0.

The Irishman, who is out of contract with Town in the summer, remained in Lancashire yesterday to train with the club and will have another chance to impress Brown in the second-string's final game of the season against Sunderland today.

Sheehan’s future at the County Ground, like much of the Town squad, is uncertain with interim chairman Jeremy Wray keen to leave all contract negotiations to the new manager once he is appointed.

“We haven’t sat down with Sheehan or anyone yet,” Wray told the Advertiser.

“Our first job is to appoint a new manager, who will then make all the decisions regarding new contracts.

“I was asked by his (Sheehan’s) agent if he could go on trial (with Preston) and I did not have a problem with that.”
