SHRIVENHAM & Watchfield Royals under eights scored 18 goals in four matches at Coleshill United’s eighth annual junior six-a-side competition on Sunday.

The event was held at Swindon Supermarine’s Webb’s Wood Stadium and was separated into four age groups, with the under eights category being non-competitive.

The Under 10s played six matches each and the league champions were Faringdon Town with 14 points, closely followed by Highworth Town Juniors T with 13 points.

In the Under 12s, Liden Community FC topped the table with 12 points from five games, with Ferndale Rodbourne pipping Carterton for second spot on goals scored.

Tournament football was the order of the day in the under 14s and the group winners were Forest Green Rovers Youth A, Faringdon Town B and FC Abbey Meads.

Liden Community FC A and B won their quarter-finals after both finishing runners-up in the group stages, and they duly met in the semi-final with the B team emerging 1-0 victors.

The other semi was between Forest Green Rovers Youth A and Croft Juniors Red, both of which had won their quarter-finals on penalties, with Croft winning by a single goal.

The final between Croft and Liden B was a tight affair and finished goalless after extra time, with Liden triumphing 6-5 on penalties.
