ALISON Fail's fine season has been rewarded.

Purton's county stalwart and member of both the Wiltshire Johns Trophy and Walker Cup sides has been invited to attend the women’s senior international trial at Victoria Park, Royal Leamington Spa, on Saturday, September 23.

Fail led her Purton trio, including Chris Mitchell and Julie Jones to national triples success at Royal Leamington Spa last month.

Following the trial the team, plus travelling reserves and non-travelling reserves, for the 2018 Senior Women’s International Series at Belmont BC, Belfast next June will be selected.

ROYAL Wootton Bassett Ladies face a formidable task at the Bowls Wiltshire domestic finals at Devizes this weekend.

On Sunday they will be bidding to halt the county’s top women’s side Box from extending their remarkable winning run in the county Top Ten competition to eight victories in a row.

Wendy Anderson (Stratton Churchway) is set to meet holder Alex Jacobs (Box) in the Bowls Wiltshire ladies champion of champions final on Sunday.

Wroughton’s Joyce Lewis, Jean Corbett and women’s county secretary Babs Salter contest the semi-finals and hopefully the final of the county ladies benevolent triples.

They face Josie Mulligan, Bev Lilley and Sheila Garlick (Devizes) in their semi-final.

Saturday sees Maisie Daniell (RW Bassett) and Gail Keating (Ramsbury &Aldbourne) compete in the semi-finals of the ladies county unbadged singles with the final later in the day.
