THERE were mixed fortunes for Horseshoe Amateur Boxing Club fighters recently.
George Richardson stopped Ben Stuart of King’s ABC (Devon) in the second round of the pair’s clash.
Richardson came out behind his jab which repeatedly caught the King’s boy, and in the second put combinations together and the ref stepped in.
Debutant 14-year-old Sam Ballugh put in a brave performence against Shaun Broadney.
Giving away at least a foot in height, Ballugh kept low with a high guard, and despite being patient in his approach, lost the first round.
In the second he got closer and had a serious go at his opponent.
The last round saw Ballugh force Broadney against the ropes and he caught his opponent with good combinations, but lost on a unanimous decision.
