WALCOT ABC will have girl power on their side when they host their fundraising show at the Supermarine Sports and Social Club on Friday, writes Dave Veysey.

Fifteen contests make up an exciting bill, including three female bouts, with 15-year-old Jordan O’Donoghue leading the way.

The Dorcan pupil is hugely talented, having won six of her eight contests to date, and last season won a Golden Girls tournament in Sweden as well as beating two national champions on club shows.

O’Donoghue faces Chloe Lepage from Weymouth ABC in what promises to be one of the highlights of the evening, with Lepage also boasting an impressive record having won six of her seven bouts.

Also in action for the Walcot ladies division are Rishelle Dillon (25) and Charlotte Bailey (16), who are both making their ring debuts.

For the boys, professional jump jockey Felix De Giles struts his stuff against Oliver Giddings from Western-Super-Mare at light welterweight.

The hard-hitting 23-year-old is fresh from riding a winning double at Plumpton on Monday, and is unbeaten in his two bouts to date.

Also in action at light welterweight for Walcot is former Western Counties Novice Champion Said Salem. The 22-year-old encounters Jordan Platt from Launceston, a potential opponent in this year’s Senior ABA Championship.

Making his debut at welterweight will be 19-year-old Rhyan Thomas, son of Walcot Coach Lionel McCrea. Thomas looks an exciting talent who will hope to emulate his father’s successful boxing career.

Josh Osman is also in action at welterweight with the 25-year-old former Western Counties Schoolboy Champion returning to the ring after a 10-year break from the sport.

In addition, talented 11-year-olds Drew Hunt and James Anderson are making their Walcot debuts while Mikey McDonagh, 12, looks for win number four in a Walcot vest.

The actions starts at 8pm this Friday. Admission is £10 at the door with a VIP section for sponsors.
